Another significant ruin that is on the 'must see' lists is Ephesus near Selcuk.  From what everyone told me, Ephesus was once the 2nd largest City in the world, after Rome, and also contained one of the 7 Ancient Wonders of the World, The Temple of Artemis, as well as being the final resting place of one of Jesus's 12 Disciples, John the Baptist.  Phwew, busy place.  Not just in what it contained but busy in terms of people visiting ... and it's not even tourist season yet.  Ephesus is big and so far Archeologists have really only scratched the surface here.  They have opened up the Theatre, naturally, and well as the Library and the Agora (an anciant meeting place to sell stuff) and the Colonades that connect each one as well as the immediate housing or stores next to these.  One of the housing blocks that they examined, they have built a shed to cover it all and protect the paint and moasics that were found there.  Audrey and I entered this area and I can tell you that it is worth it, to see all these interconnecting buildings brought back to basically how there were was fascinating.  This area contains the largest area of intact mosaic uncovered so far throughout the world and is worthy of the expense to protect it.
The Temple of Artemis was not in this area and we had to drive to another location to see ... a pillar.  I just have to assume that this is the loaction.  That makes 3 of the 7 Great Wonders of the World that I have 'seen', the others being the Great Pryamids and the Great Lighthouse.  Only 4 to go.
