After the magnificence that was the Neuschwanstein Castle, it was time to start to think about heading back to Montpellier for a little rest before we continue our trip to the U S of A and onwards.  We had about 14 days to do this so it was time to decide where and what to do.  When we were living in New Caledonia we had a couple of good flat mates in Thomas and Viriya who we knew where living in Paris so a quick email to them to say we are on our way and the next week was planned just like that.
On the way there we drove by Lake Constance and then through the Black Forest and then onto Strasbourg.  Strasbourg is another one of those unfortunate towns that lie in the border region and therefore have been numerous different nationalities over the years.  Today it is French.  Never-the-less it is has a beautiful old city centre that had stood the test of time.  It is also right next to the Rhine River and therefore has had access to the trade that flowed back and forth along the mighty river thus giving this City great importance over the years.  And as you have worked out, every important City needs a Grand Cathedral (or Mosque or Pagoda, etc).  The Strasbourg one does the City justice.  The other really nice area to visit is Little France, a small area on the banks of the River L'ill.  It is street after street of half timbered houses that seem to lean towards each other over the roadway below, old creeper vines that cover walls and, surprise surprise, Tourists.  Strasbourg is also important for Europe as it is the seat of the European Parliment.  There are a lot of smart, and rich, people walking around the streets here methinks.
T and V live in the 15th Arrondissement which is only a brisk 20 minute walk from the Eiffel Tower and right next to the underground, perfect for a base to explore Paris.  But alus both Audrey and I got the bug, the flu if you like, not a bad one but enough to lay low for a couple of days.  But when we did go out it was just to walk around and look at this huge City, not at anything in particular as we had done all the major Tourist sites last time we were here, but just to look.  One night we went to the "Aussie Bar" which is found over near the Catacombs and I spent A$45 on a jug of beer !!! My hat the Aussie dollar is terrible at the moment, what a bad time to travel.  Needless to say I didn't drink that night.
Audrey really wanted to visit EuroDisney so off we went on Tuesday to visit.  I'm a little non-plussed about it, I could take it or leave it, but when we got there I was glad I tagged along.  Obviously Disney has a good reputation when it comes to their Parks and its easy to see why.  The Park is well layed out and very clean.  All the characters walk around and all the kids, Viriya included, go gaga when they see them.  But the problem is the line-up versus ride time.  Quite often we lined up for 30 minutes to be on a ride for only 2.  Viriya told me that this particular day was actually a very good one for waiting as there was not that many people in the Park.  I will never go to a Disney Park on a school holiday, public holiday or any day that is sunny and warm as I think it would be almost impossible to move around.
We leave Paris after 6 days without actually doing much.  But I'm sure that we will be back one day and then we will be more touristy.
